Abstract
The best-known Jewish play, The Dybbuk, famously staged in Hebrew in Moscow in 1922, was written in Russian and in Yiddish. Its complex textual history, besides reflecting the intrinsic multilingualism of Jewish society, is closely related to the life events of its author. Shloyme Zanvl Rapoport, known by his pen name An-ski, was a writer of fiction, non-fiction, and drama, a reporter, an ethnographer, a political activist. Also, he was an exile for most of his life.
La pièce de théâtre juive la plus célèbre, Le dibbouk, mise en scène en hébreu à Moscou en 1922, fut écrite en russe et en yiddish. Son histoire textuelle complexe reflète le multilinguisme de la société juive et en plus, elle est étroitement liée à la vie de son auteur. Shloyme Zanvl Rapoport, connu sous son pseudonyme An-ski, était un écrivain de fiction, de non-fiction et de théâtre, un journaliste, un ethnographe, un activiste politique. De plus, il fut un exilé la plupart de sa vie.
